Let's catch up!
It's almost fall in New York and you know that's the best time of the year here.
Hello! Happy Friday! We all made it to the weekend. It’s a very typical end of summer day here in New York – 73 degrees, low humidity and if you are facing just the right direction you’ll even feel a slight breeze. There’s not a cloud in the sky. It’s the time of year where you grab a sweatshirt on your way out in the morning just in case you get lucky and feel a chill by the late afternoon. (Although, it’s supposed to be almost 90 degrees on Sunday, so, I don’t know, maybe this is all just wishful thinking.)
I had a really beautiful Summer, I hope you did too. I celebrated a lot of big milestones from my 35th birthday to my 10 year wedding anniversary and then our 10 year moving to New York anniversary (a big one if you ever want to call yourself a true New Yorker, apparently). Two of my best friends from growing up came to visit me for my 35th birthday and we took a girls trip to Newport, Rhode Island (lovely little town!) and then Joe and I got to watch Coco Gauff play in the US Open. I quite like being in the city during the summer. The streets are emptier, you can get into restaurants easier, friends that don’t have weekend homes are always around to hang out. It’s honestly really very lovely!
I am really looking forward to fall now, though. This is a time that I love living on the East Coast, when the anticipation of a change of season is on the horizon and its arrival is largely dictated by the way that you feel when you’re walking outside. Aside from all the obviously great things about autumn in New York (the clothes, the magical changing of the leaves, the general feeling of being consistently cozy), I am looking forward to implementing more structure back into my days again. I sort of just let all my routines go by the wayside for the past month. Not necessarily intentionally, maybe I just needed it. Maybe it was partially just me being lazy, I don’t know. But either way, I’m going into this new season feeling incredibly rested and focused on my goals for the next few months.
In the last Friday newsletter that I sent I mentioned that in the 6 months leading up to my birthday I had loosely followed a plan to read a book, try something new, learn something new and accomplish something each month and then I asked if anyone would want to join me if I did something like that again. The poll results were a 100% yes (never mind it was only 15 total people that voted, I shan’t be dismayed!), so I was thinking that we’d start this together in October. We’ll keep it easy – we’ll pick a book for the month, an activity / something we can all learn together and then maybe we each set a personal goal that we want to accomplish that month? We can then figure out a way to connect (or not) and share what we’ve learned. I think it will be fun!
As I’m thinking about what our first month of the above will be, can you let me know what type of books you’d most be interested in reading as a group?
If you chose fiction, would you reply to this email or leave a comment below letting me know what genre you’d be most interested in? Rom-Com, Thriller, etc.
That’s really all I’ve got for you today. Have a beautiful weekend. Send a friend a text and tell them that you love them.
See you Tuesday!
Libby
